Refael Salem’s art explores the relationship between the physical and emotional worlds. He depicts characters that are boyish and naive, placed in nature. The natural backdrop enhances the characters' beauty while simultaneously reveals their vulnerability and fragility. Refael's works are influenced by poetry and literature, and by legends and stories of youthful adventures.
Refael is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. He is the recipient of the Bezalel Department of Art Excellence Award and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Award.
