About Vivian Hirsch Birkenfeld

These works, verging on the abstract, describe cells and biomorphic shapes based upon photographs taken by a high resolution electronic microscope.
They represent the fight between ill cells, the enemy that menace our bodies from the inside, against chemical fluids that fight them to eradicate them and cure the body. By carving the surface of the painting and "injecting" the green fluorescent fluid into it I act like a Shaman, trying to bring cure to the sick body.
In my work I try to create an aesthetic experience, for myself as well as for the viewers. Thus I try to capture their attention in a web of creation, and compel them to linger a fraction of a second longer in front of it; giving creation another instance of gazing and thought.
