 Full Stomach, Sigal Eshet-Shafat

After years of curating, I create!!!!

Works from canvas, the same canvas that has seen the best painters in the world, is usually a receptive material, in my works he emits. It transmits power when I rip it, knead, fold, wash, launder, stitch, and make it alive.

I re-create my biography with materials that are in my immediate vicinity. Soft baking papers and abrasive paperwork such as life experiences, painkillers and needles that are sometimes left in works such as skin scars, gauze and bandages that wear life's injuries. Life wrinkles us and we wrinkle life, I get in shape or maybe embroider light and blood vessels.

Some of the works stop in the middle, the needle, identified as a feminine tool, remains in the work because life is constantly "sewn", blot the wounds and move on. The story told in the works is a story of generations of bonfires.

The works reflect my emotional and physical world, states of consciousness and health conditions that are influenced by countless elements that balance with yoga training capacitor and focus. From a living philosophy based on mysticism and acceptance.

In the series "Flowers for the Sabbath", I give eternal life to the flowers I received from my husband, the seemingly perfect flowers, dried in thick reception books, or canned and stuffed with puddles of glue that may look like a puddle of oil or a puddle of blood. The coarseness of sand papers symbolize the contrast of the different textures of life. The colored embroidery threads symbolize the movement, the lines of separation, the separation between the sacred and the profane, between the main and the trivial, between right and left, between me and him, between me and myself.

The purpose of my creations is to awaken the viewer by as many associations as possible in a collective visual language and expansive aesthetics. To raise the feelings of the beholder from the depths of his soul to influence and change the angle of his vision, even if it is only in one degree, if I succeed, I will fulfill my goal.
