Color games
Edward Almashi (Shlomo Zalman Ben Moshe)
All his life he was obsessed with the Holocaust of the Jews of Ukraine and its environs. Recently, he published Dr. Moshe Granot's book "Romanian Passport", a book documenting the testimonies of Holocaust survivors. The book is an important human document for the experiences of the Jews during World War II.
Edward is an artist with a unique clairvoyance, which led him to works in which he expressively leaves traces, powerfully leading his hands and fingers into the world of colors, lines and shapes, into a very personal creative journey. At the beginning of his artistic career there were random drawings and scribbles that led to works of various sizes. Ethan I am whole, says Edward about his works. His creative origins come from the districts of his childhood, from historical events and from Jewish culture that tell his own private Jewish story.
The exhibition presents a cohesive concept of works, built from twisted colored hopes, which create a rich colorful texture. Some correspond with world art. He was mainly influenced by the artist Stanislaw Schukalski (1893-1987), a Polish sculptor and painter who became part of the Renaissance period in Chicago. His works served as an important source for him, impressing and greatly influencing his work.
Edward creates with his own hands tools and molds of various sizes, which he combines in his paintings. These are eye-catching and heart-wrenching color games that come to delight the viewer.
