" Being at home " the family cell during the corona
The Artists' House in Tel Aviv presents: "Being at Home" Eyal Tevet's solo exhibition: which deals with the portraits of the nearest family cell, in the home space around the Corona period.

The corona has forced life in the domestic space indefinitely. It redefined the boundaries of work-home, individual-family, personal-public and their confusion.
In the exhibition "Being at Home", Eyal Tevet presents a series of new paintings from recent months, based on photographs he took of his family members: his spouse and daughters while they slept, or rested. Tevet tries to capture especially peaceful and relaxed moments precisely in this chaotic reality.
It can be seen that even in the peaceful moments in the pictures there are flickers of tension, restlessness alongside the desire for calm. The human body fascinates him and he searches for and sees in it the animals alongside the ephemerality.
He creates the paintings on used bedding: wooden or metal panels he found and collected from the street, damaged and scratched that produce an extra dimension to the works. Out of a desire to create in a material that has a previous life and to incorporate the paintings created by him, he creates archeological layers and early references.
Two of the oversized paintings, in one of them a life-size self-portrait and in the other, the partner of the sprawling artist sleeping life-size, were painted on perforated wooden bases of a bed. Tevet found the wooden bases on the street and chose to leave them as they are. The painting "Mika and Shira sleep" two of his daughters depict his daughters sleeping and curled up in each other's arms. They, too, seem doubtfully peaceful, doubtfully preoccupied.
For Tevet, the choice to engage in this exhibition with the members of the household is closely related to the central importance that the artist finds in the home and in the life that takes place in it, both in Corona and in general. In his view, "being at home" and creating a family unit wherever he is, is at the heart of human existence and this period emphasizes this even more.

About the artist
Eyal Tevet was born in 1966 in Petah Tikva, and is one of the students of Yossi Mark, director of the Institute of Visual Arts in Petah Tikva. Tevet exhibited at Nurit Levy Gallery, Petah Tikva Museum of Art, and Amalia Arbel Gallery of Art.
He has been married to his real partner for the past eighteen years. They are raising their daughters in shared parenting with Michal: Shira (12), Mika (9) and Talia (7) in Moshav Mazor in a large yard full of animals. Eyal works as a landscape and interior designer and combines exterior design, event design and interior design.
