"Urban Dream"
Solo exhibition by artist Eli Levinger
Jerusalem theatre
20 Marcus Street
Curator: Noga Arad-Ayalon
In the urban-fictional series, the artist Eli Levinger presents his personal interpretation of the concept of "the city hidden from the eye." Eli, who relies on naivism and fictional stories in his artistic life, is fascinated by the lack of reality and expresses the canvas as a hybrid of Metropolis and Smallville.
With great talent and a wide range of techniques, I am inspired by a different spirit of life in the vibrant metropolis; He builds an arsenal of unique structures and architecture, and dives into expressiveness, sometimes turbulent.
His work mentions personal memory markers and the application of his attraction to a fictional world.
He goes to the work of creation, in this specific exhibition, very directly, and conveys the feeling that it is not clear whether what we see as viewers is naive, dreamy, good, bad or just what it is. The artist acts like a screenwriter who tells a story on canvas, presents figurative scenarios that combine with a strong color texture, sharp brush strokes and colorful creative typography like a kind of riddle that captures the viewer into the content of the work in order to make it part of the plot.
The urban figures and icons are sympathetic. And point to the artist's great sensitivity .
Eli works in his studio at Mishkenot Ha'uma in Jerusalem and participated in several exhibitions in Israel: the Givataim Theater and the Tirosh Gallery.
Abroad was recently chosen to participate in the exhibition at the important museum of modern art MIIT is considered the city of Turin
