In her present exhibition "The Sand of Life," the artist Orly Shalem chooses to follow her heartbeat. Her painting is a journey of search and longing, prayer or longing, sometimes joy is bursting, sometimes sadness and pain, her painting is a song.
"Painting is an existential need for me, to express myself in colors and shapes where my words are meager and can not contain ...
In a universal language that touches emotion, which is beyond rational explanations.
I paint mainly abstract, in a variety of tools and techniques , on large canvas fabrics.
My inspirational sources are: landscapes engraved in my consciousness, music in all its diversity, my emotional world and small moments of grace and excitement. "
Shalem looks primarily at nature as a convenient platform for casting her feelings and expressions. Her art language ranges from abstract-expressive to abstract-lyrical, influenced by early Israeli painting such as New Horizons and more. However, her painting attempts to reflect a contemporary mood that is constantly beating and changing.
She has been painting for 12 years, mostly abstract, and she explains:
"My paintings are mostly abstract, because I have always been attracted to the mystery and mystery of the abstract, to the development that allows the viewer to observe, to seek and find meaning and personal interpretation according to his world of associations and images. When I'm asked what I drew or what I meant, I return the question to the observer and ask him to answer what he sees or feels. When someone tells me that my painting touched him or moved him, I feel tremendous satisfaction, that I managed to translate my emotion into material that once again generated the emotion, so that the transformation takes place from heart to heart. To me it is the beauty and magic of the abstract "
The artist is faithful to her art and expresses the feelings of the heart and subconscious in color, the stain of line and texture, in a universal language that is beyond words - the language of art.
"My creative process is an unplanned journey to myself, beginning with a growing inner feeling that connects to the music that intensifies and floods it until my hands are sent spontaneously to the color breakthroughs and intuitively, choosing the colors and transferring them to the canvas, translating the emotion into the material, sometimes directly with the fingers of the hands With brushes, skimmers, roller bearings, or flaps - all it takes to express that inner drive "

Usually Orly paints in acrylic colors on canvas, feels that they respond to the immediate instincts that want to break out and sometimes combines oil pastels, pencils and tulips.
"During the journey I observe, occasionally stop, decide to change direction, cover or expose, etch or drip, and continue to the point where I feel the painting is complete and the journey is over."

Orly's works are similar to the circles of life, the coloration of a storm and calmness, fireworks on one side and a calm haven on the other.
The blurring of emotions in a fascinating palette of colors that brings the viewer into a mysterious tunnel, at the end of which reality will appear in a different light.
