Meir Pichhadze | Sundown / Hezi Cohen Galleryטלפון - 972-03-6398788 09/03/2017 to - 22/04/2017 Hezi Cohen Gallery is proud to present a new solo exhibition of works by Meir Pichhadze (1955-2010). This exhibition came to life in cooperation with the artist's family and estate representatives. It presents personal and intimate images such as his unique watercolor works - less familiar to the public - alongside iconic works such as the family portraits and children letters series, the "death flowers" works, abstract paintings and more. Pichhadze used to say that it is not the artist's role to create something ex nihilo; the agglomeration of forms and themes in his works developed out of a clear ideology of refusal to dedicate himself to a unified style. Instead, he chose to work out of an existing formal and conceptual framework, making reference to art history the organizing principal of his oeuvre. He embraced the anxiety of influence and appropriated it as the motivational force of his personal development as a painter.
