Douglas Gordon / Dvir galleryטלפון - 03-6043003 10/09/2009 to - 10/10/2009 All during his artistic career, Gordon has referenced several famed artists and film directors, by way of quoting, doubling or mirroring their works in his. Those include Andy Warhol, who immortalized in equal measures the faces of film stars, celebrities and anonymous figures taken from police files. By ravaging Warhol posters, Gordon does to Warhols work just the opposite of what Warhol had effected on his subjects. The posters are torn, burned, stained and mounted on mirrors that reflect the viewer hence the name of the series. Gordon calls on us to take part in an iconoclastic act of black magic, in which Warhols icons are being dismantled, while his come to life. Time - 10/09/2009 to - 10/10/2009 |
